Fall Conference October 26, 2007
Mary had spoken with three different speakers for the conference: Doug Flemons, Therapeutic Quickies; A Brief Approach to Sex Therapy ($2,000 plus expenses), John Friel, Seven best Ways to Have a Relationship ($2,000 plus expenses), Jason Lassner‐Sexual Dysfunction, ($1,500 plus expenses – driving) and Merk Lassner Sexual Addictions – here for October 20th session for the public at Celebrate church but would do a 4‐hour session on 10/19.

A motion was made by Ann Marie and seconded by Kathy to secure Doug Flemons for fall conference. The motion included sending out announcement cards as soon as possible to bring attention to the conference then brochures by August.

There will be a committee to work on the conference, Mary agreed to be the committee leader and a number of individuals will work together to make the conference work. Mary was getting post cards printed and Kathy would work on postcard distribution.

Treasurer’s Report
Morris Patzlaff reported a balance in the checking account as of May 4, 2007 of $5,216.95.

Morris asked that SDAMFT consider the rates it is charging for the fall conference. Most other entities are raising fees. Consider giving a break to SDAMFT members and hopefully encouraging new members to join. This will be considered in detail at the next meeting.

Leadership Conference, Washington DC, March 22‐25, 2007
Ann Marie gave a report of the issues addressed with the legislators on the Hill.

  1. Medicare inclusion. All three of our legislators were on board with LMFT inclusion in Medicare.
  2. Adding MFTs in the No Child Left Behind reauthorization.
  3. Having one MFT at every Vet Center. This was addressed primarily with Rep. Stephanie Herseth‐Sandlin.

Cookie Day in Pierre
Kathy Sazama will check with Pierre about dates available at this point. The rotunda is not a very advantageous place, Kathy will check on alternatives.

Additional comments
Mary Guth shared some information for the edification of the group.

Summer Institute, Rapid City, July 19‐26, 2007
There was a reminder to add the Summer Institute to the newsletter if it comes out before the institute, and Mary made the suggestion that we contact West River members to have a gathering sometime during the Institute. A reminder will be added to the SDAMFT web site. Mike Wheaton, a student at NABS, has offered to be of help while at the conference.

Respectfully Submitted, Ann Marie Rossing SDAMFT President
